Emilio Martinez Lopez has been an associated artist of Moving Theater since 2005, performing in Without at the Guggenheim Museum and Dance New Amsterdam, and Mass Particle No. 1, at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center and Abrons Art Center. He was born in Mexico City, beginning his training there in dance at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Throughout the 1990s, Emilio performed with various Mexican choreographers and companies, including Oscar Ruvalcaba, Asalto Diario Artistic Experimentation Group, and Independent Ballet, the most influential of which was La Cebra, directed by Jose Rivera. In recent years, Emilio continues to work both in New York and Mexico, collaborating with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Dance Anonymous, Freespace Dance Company, and Tiempo de Bailar Company. He currently lives in New York and Mexico City.
