Tenor Peter Tantsits has given recitals in England, France, Russia and the United States in such venues as the Snape Maltings in Suffolk and the Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow. He made his European operatic debut in Charpentier’s Actéon in the 2003 Aldeburgh Festival under Emmanuelle Haïm. His opera credits include such roles as Kudrjàsą in Kàt’a Kabanovà, the title role in Platée, Ramiro in La Cenerentola, Tacmas in Les Indes Galantes, Ferrando in Così and Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Lysander in Midsummer, the servants in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and many others. Praised for his “riveting” performances of Peter Maxwell Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King, he most recently bowed to rave reviews at the Festival Internacional de Musica Contemporánea in Morelia, Mexico. His upcoming engagements include Falstaff at the Festival Lyrique-en-Mer, in Belle Ile, France and Salome with Deborah Voigt under Leonard Slatkin with the National Symphony in 2007. Peter holds degrees from Yale University and the Oberlin Conservatory.
